A loan of $725 helped to buy a freezer and more cured meats for her business.

Maria Leonor's story

María is a 52-year-old woman living with her son in her own humble abode in Monsefú District, Lambayeque. María lives in an urban zone within a community whose residents are noted for being enterprising people with a strong drive to get ahead.

For the last 20 years María has been selling “Monsefuanos” (people from Monsefú) breakfast items like sausage, ham, cheese, butter, etc. That is, cured meats and other food items needed to complement their breakfast banquets. María’s business is located on a strategic corner busy with transportation providers so María knows her business very well and has a well established clientele.

María is asking for a 2000 new sol loan from Edpyme Alternativa to buy a freezer to keep her cured meats in good condition and also to buy more products because, since she’s so well known in the area, demand has increased recently. The items María provides are in high demand because they are of very good quality.

María has good repayment behavior. She has managed seven previous loans and has repaid them on time.
