A loan of $725 helped to buy cacao plants.

Ernestina's story

Ernestina is from the city of San Miguel. She is 48 years old, and she is a happy and hard-working woman. She is married to 50 year old Emiliano, and they have five children. They live together in their own house in the Canal community, and annex of the Palmapampa district.

Ernestina started her adventure as a farmer on her parents’ fields when she was a very young girl. Her passion for farming led her to acquire her own fields. Her fields were purchased through her efforts as well as her husband's.

She has worked her own land for 23 years. She grows cacao and coffee. At harvest time she has help from the day workers who take charge of gathering the fruits of each product more quickly. This way she manages to complete her work at a more rapid pace.

She is very committed to her business. Thanks to her daily effort she now enjoys watching the products her plants yield, earning better profits for each kilogram that is sold.

For now her greatest priority is to buy new land to expand her crops and increase her production.

This is her 7th loan with MFP, and she is prepared to make her payments on time as she wishes to access future loans. She is much respected in her communal bank because she keeps the group in order.

She will use the requested loan to get cacao plants. She will then graft them, and she will get good profit from their fruits in less time.
