A loan of $725 helped to buy sacks of manure and fertilizer.

Jorge's story

Jorge is 41 years old and is a very hardworking man. He lives in his own home with his wife Flora, 40, and their 4 beloved children, for whom they wish to provide a better future. Jorge works as a farmer, an occupation that he learned from his parents when he was very young. He has been working for 20 years on his own land where he cultivates cocoa plants, coffee and coca leaves in a technical manner. At harvest times he counts on help from his children and from day workers who provide him with support on various tasks. Jorge knows very well that the money he gets is related to the good quality of his fruit. He sells his harvested products in the markets in the cities of San Francisco and Quimbiri, places where he can get the best prices for the special quality of his coffee and cocoa beans and his coca leaves. What he enjoys most about his work is harvesting the fruit, since that is when he feels that the months of arduous labor pay off in the quality of his fruit. What he considers most difficult is to transport the heavy sacks of produce from the fields to his community. In the future, he hopes to buy more land to increase his production. This is Jorge's 3rd loan with MFP, and he feels capable of making all of his payments. He is one of the most active members of his communal bank. The loan that he requests is to buy manure and fertilizers that will be very useful in improving his production.
