A loan of $275 helped to buy more chickens.

Maria Del Carmen's story

In the town of Tierra Blanca is a community called El Jicaro, located 20 minutes from the glass plant. Maria del Carmen lives in this community. She is 54 years old, has an elementary school education, and is married to Gonzalo who works as a field hand. Since her children are married, she and her husband live together.

Maria tells us that three years ago she was restless to work in her own business in order to help her husband with the household expenses. She sells chickens out of her mother in law’s home Monday through Sunday. This home is located closer to the city center. Maria has her own corral where she raises her chickens.

She tells us that she needs this loan to buy more chickens and feed so that she can continue her sales and so that he business will prosper and bring in a good income. She wants to expand her corral to be able to raise more chickens. Maria is very happy and hard working. She rises at 4:00 am every day to feed her chickens so she can sell them.

She is grateful to the foundation for granting this loan.
