A loan of $875 helped to buy feed and building materials.

Nitzia's story

Nitzia A. is 27 years old and has a high school education. She’s married and has three children who attend elementary school. They live in a community called Jicaro, 30 minutes from Tierra Blanca, Veracruz.

Nitzia tells us that she went to work in the United States when she was a very young. This is where she met her husband. They married and had children, but years later she wanted to return home to live close to her family. She says that she and her husband have had to work very hard since returning, in order to get ahead with their children, because the economic situation in [her] country gets worse every day.

She began working at her own business, raising hogs, a little over two years ago. She has pigs that have piglets and she sells them when they’re three months old. She continues to raise her pigs so that they’ll continue having piglets.

She wants to expand her pen to be able to add more pig and will invest the money from this loan in feed and building materials (cinder blocks, fencing, cement, salt, and sand).

Nitzia wants to prosper with this investment in her business. She wants to give her children a better quality of life and the opportunity to attain professional careers.
