Isbelia

A loan of $1,025 helped to buy merchandise for restocking inventory of bicycle tire rims, replacement wheels, spokes, bicycle chains, and steel cables.

Isbelia's story

Isbelia C. is 48 years old and lives in the metropolitan neighborhood of Ciudadela with her husband and two children, ages 15 and 18. She and her family run a business called "Lauren's Bicycle Repair Shop", offering bicycle repair and maintenance services as well as spare parts. Her husband and son help her run the business, and they use the income to cover basic household expenses.

She is happy to be generating an equal share of the family's income and dreams of expanding the business through a capital injection. Isabelia wants to build up her small repair shop as a well-equipped provider of specialty services. Her biggest challenge is lack of sufficient investment capital. This is why she is turning to Fundación Mario Santo Domingo for a Kiva loan that will enable her to buy merchandise to restock her inventory of high-quality bicycle tire rims, replacement wheels, spokes, bicycle chains, and steel cables.

Eventually, Isabelia hopes to expand her inventory to include motorcycle parts. This will allow her to diversify her business activities and achieve a greater profit margin, which she currently believes is about 30%.
