Las Rosas Group's story

This group is called “Las Rosas” (The Roses). The members of the group decided on this name because the owner of the house they meet in has a garden full of just roses. This story is about Mr. Melchor A. C. since he’s one of the group members. He is 58 years old and married to Eufrocina with whom he has three children: Octavio, Manuel and Sandra, all of whom are married. He’s had a grocery store for over 10 years.

He says that he chose this business because he wanted to find a way to support his wife and children as well as have better economic solvency and an excellent quality of life. Besides, he says that it’s a very good source of income and that’s why he decided to start with this business. He will use the loan he got to continue investing in his store, to buy merchandise like: soft drinks, water, oil, eggs, salt, sugar, milk, beans, soap, toilet paper and other articles, to continue with his sales.

Melchor says that his goal is to cause his store to grow as a business since he wants to build a larger locale because what he most wants to do is turn his small store into a large grocery store to have it better stocked and thus obtain more and better profits.

He says that he knows his fellow group members well and comments that they are very responsible, hard working, trustworthy people who very much want to get ahead and better themselves. In addition, they have never been late or missed any loan payments because they want to continue relying on the support from subsequent loans.

He thanks FRAC and Kiva lenders for giving him the opportunity and for trusting him but, above all, for believing in him since thanks to the help he was able to invest in his business and have a better quality of life and a better future with his wife and family.

The people who make up the Las Rosas group are the following: Marcelina, María Elvia, María Isabel, Guadalupe, Leonarda, Elvira, Rosibel, Melchor, Martha, Estela and Juliana who are in a variety of activities like: clothing store, fruit stand, groceries, fish sales, corn, snack bar, tamale making and butcher shop.
