A loan of $900 helped to buy traps and netting.

Juan's story

Juan is 42 years old and from Palmapampa district. He is a very truthful and hard-working man who lives in his own home together with his wife, 42 year-old Demetria, and his two beloved children who are the reason for all his efforts.

Every day, very early in the morning, Juan goes out to work on his farm. He knows that he has to put all his effort into making his land fertile so that he can obtain a good harvest. He sells his produce, such as coca leaf, coffee and cacao, in the warehouses in the city of San Francisco where he has lots of buyers owing to the good quality of his crops.

What Juan most enjoys about his work is sowing his land and he does this with a lot of patience. He has been in this business for 20 years and he considers the most difficult part of his work to be spraying his land with chemicals since he runs the risk of some of the chemicals making him sick in the future.

At harvest time, Juan has the support of day laborers so that he can advance more quickly in his work. Over time, he would like to buy new land so that he can increase his production.

This is Juan's third loan from MFP. He was very punctual in repaying his first loan and he hopes to be punctual in repaying this loan too. He is one of few men in his community bank, for which reason he is very much appreciated by the other members. Juan will use his loan to buy traps and netting to fight the pests that are threatening his crops.
