Ivonne's story

Ivonne is a member of the "Hijuela Grande" communal bank in the city of Viña del Mar.

She has had a bakery located in the front yard of her home for 6 years. She makes and sells bread, pizza dough and empanadas. She does this work on the weekends. During the week she works as a real estate agent and her father runs the bakery. Her business has been successful, allowing her to improve her business over time and lower her cooking expenses, by building a clay oven. Ivonne works with her father, who learned the trade from his parents. Ivonne also learned it from hers. She has many customers who often request her services. She also sells in fairs and receives orders for events and schools. She purchases her ingredients from suppliers in la Vega, such as olives, cheese, and onions. She also purchases paper and plastic bags.

With this loan she will purchase supplies for her business such as 3 100-kilo bags of flour, 10 kilos of margarine, and condiments. Her goals are to purchase an automatic dough roller and to have an established business that has the required licenses and health permits for her bakery. She would also like to open a shop to sell fruit and vegetables.

Ivonne lives with her husband and their two daughters, ages 23 and 21. She wants to pay for her daughters' college educations. She is very happy and thankful to Fondo Esperanza, as they have giver her to opportunity to invest in her business and grow. Ivonne has a very good relationship with the members of the group. She has been able to use everything she has learned about sales from the courses offered by the group into her business.
