A loan of $450 helped to buy sweets and groceries.

Jorge's story

Jorge S. is 29 years old and has a grocery store in his living room, that he has been running for two years. His main products are tropical fruit juices, sweets and groceries. He worked in a store for 10 years and gained the experience he needed to become independent and earn a living to take care of his family, comprised of his wife and two small children.

His goal for the future is to dedicate a specific room to the business co it can be independent, so he works hard to increase his working capital toward that end. This is his first loan through the Mario Santo Domingo Foundation. He plans to use it to buy sweets and especially groceries which have a higher turnover and allow him to buy at more competitive prices due to the higher volumes. He transfers the discounts to his customers, especially homemakers, who are happy to save money on groceries when they buy at his store.
