A loan of $3,350 helped a member to increase food stocks by buying a sack of rice, wheat flour, beans, corn flour and a bucket of cooking oil.

Sarafina Group's story

Mwanahamis Z. is in her late thirties and is single with three children. She has had a food vending business for six years. Her business is open from 8:00am to 11:00pm daily and she is able to make a small monthly profit.

This will be Mwanahamis's 1st loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She hopes for a loan to increase the food stock by buying a sack of rice, wheat flour, a bucket of cooking oil, corn flour and half a sack of beans. Her dream is to one day buy land to build her house.

Mwanahamis will share this loan with her loan group Sarafina which has a total of 15 members. The members of the group will hold each other accountable in paying back their loans.
