A loan of $900 helped to buy supplies for making handicrafts such as paper, card, bags, charms, etc.

Rosa Rafael's story

Rosa is a member of “Las Intocables” (The Untouchables) community bank which is located in Puno district, in Puno province and department. She is 57 years old, widowed, and has three children who live independently. She completed her high school education.

Rosa sells handicrafts. She has been working with Movimiento Manuela Ramos for seven years. Her first loan was for 300 Peruvian soles and she invested that money in her business.

Rosa will use this new loan for 2,500 soles to buy three boxes of plastic tags, paper, card, bags, fifty charms and fifty dollars (miniature model ones) so that she can then sell them in different departments. Rosa works alone.

Rosa's dream is to have a well-stocked business and to be able to offer more products for sale.

What Rosa likes about her community bank is the money she makes on her savings and the friendships she has with her fellow members.
