A loan of $675 helped to buy firewood, corn, cheese, curd, eggs, cinnamon, butter and milk, among other indispensable products.

Maria Lourdes's story

Maria Lourdes is 45 years old. She is a single mother raising one son. For more than 5 years, she has worked at this business, which she started on her own. When she was very young, her mother taught her how to make a living making and selling rosquillas [doughnut shaped pastries]. This has been the family business and she had to help her mother sell these products. That is why she struggles every day to give her children that opportunity, despite the difficult situations she has faced with this activity. She will invest the loan in firewood, corn, cheese, egg, cinnamon, butter, milk and other indispensable products. She dreams of improving her home, since it doesn't have the basic utilities yet.
