A loan of $900 helped to buy tools such as pruning shears, saws and machetes.

Victor's story

Victor is 51 years old. He lives with his partner and they have four children. Together they live in the community of Villa Quintiarina, Kimbiri village district.

From a young age Victor wanted to own land to farm, so as to be able to leave his job as laborer working in land owned by others. Thanks to the savings he accumulated over the years he was finally able to fulfill his dream, and he now owns 5 hectares where he grows cocoa and banana. Both products have a high demand and the middlemen are his main buyers, particularly cocoa. That's how he gets a good price for his sacks of harvested grain.

During the harvest and when it's time to clean his plantations he has to hire laborers, although occasionally his children help him. His future plan is to demolish his house, built in basic materials, and build a new house in finer materials so as to make his family more comfortable.

This is his 12th loan with MFP and he is committed to continuing to fulfill the payment schedule. He also feels very comfortable working with his community bank. With the loan money he will buy tools for his job, such as pruning shears, saws and machetes, that will be of great use to improve his farm.
