Tambuka Group's story

Elisabeth N., 40, is a businesswoman who lives in Mumuri in the township of Makebuko, Province of Gitega, in central Burundi. She has been selling bananas for three years and before beginning this activity, she was a farmer. She went to school up through 6th grade. She is a widow with five children who are all enrolled in school.

She has requested a loan from Kiva to grow her working capital by buying large quantities of bananas for resale so as to make more profit. She is very optimistic about the boost for her business and hopes to succeed in her family life as her children manage to succeed.

She is a member of a borrowing group called "Tambuka".
