A loan of $900 helped to buy a cow.

Adela's story

Adela is 59 years old. She is a widow and lives alongside her two daughters who are grown up and have their own families. For more than 18 years, Adela has been selling milk which she gets from a cow that she owns. She milks her cow every morning. Her daughters help her in this task since it is a constant activity that requires a lot of patience. Adela processes the milk into natural yoghurt and cheese which she also sells. The stable where she keeps her cow is located on a family member's property since they have a lot of space.

Adela also sells 'mazamorra' (a corn-based pudding) as an itinerant street vendor. In this way, she makes a daily income. Adela tells us that she is happy with the work that she does since she has years of experience and, over the years, she has managed to gain customers who are mainly people who sell dairy products and come from other towns.

Adela's big wish is to own more cows. This is her 14th loan from MFP. She feels very happy to be a member of her community bank. She will invest the loan that she is requesting in buying another cow for her stable.
