A loan of $775 helped to buy a freezer and stock items for the store.

Wilfredo's story

Wilfredo is from Diamante de las Segovia, Estelí, but currently lives in Santa Cruz, El Naranjo, an adjacent town located 7 kilometers from Estelí. He’s 31 years old, married and has a four year old daughter who is in preschool. He studied to be an agronomy technician but is currently a merchant. He started out selling fruit but later got the opportunity to sell other kinds of merchandise like juices, bananas, fried fast food (enchiladas, tacos). Later on he decided to change his business’ focus and he went into the sale of basic consumption items like rice, beans, milk, eggs, meat, bread, juices, bath soap, snacks, etc. He noticed that he was at a good sales point because students and tourists pass by; his wife helps him tend to the store. He asked for the loan to buy a freezer, to buy new and better products to sell and to increase his inventory. He hopes to use this investment to increase sales, meet customer demand and have better foodstuffs in stock to offer. In the near future he’d like to be able to expand the business; he wants to do some infrastructure improvements. He wants to consolidate his sales at strategic sales points that will provide his family with stability.
