A loan of $1,000 helped to fix up the car, to buy a set of tires, and to have a general mechanical check performed.

Maria Concepcion's story

María, age 37, is from the Estelí department. She is a single mother, and she has three children; ages 18, 12, and 8. All of them go to school. To her they represent her most valuable treasure. It is for them that she gets up every day to work and honorably earn the family's support.

She owns a taxi. She got it with the savings she was getting through remittances that a relative who lives in the United States was sending her. With the money she had saved she bought the taxi. It is the business that has supported her family. Also, she previously sold cosmetics.

She now has a worker who takes a shift from six in the morning until nine at night. He is a taxi driver.

She is requesting the loan to fix up the car. She will buy a set of tires, and she will have a general mechanical check performed. She hopes that with the new changes to the taxi she will be able to offer her passengers better service. She also hopes for financial stability.

In the future she wishes to be able to renovate her car. She wants to be able to buy another one that is a little more modern because the one she has is a little old.

Her primary and most important goal is to get her children ahead. It is for them that she makes any and all sacrifices. She wants to see her children have professional careers.
