Jamonoy Tey De Kacoumpa Group
In this Group: Khardiata, Mansata, Adama, Aïssatou
We are a group of women who would like to make crafts and house wares using local products. We make house wares with materials such as palm tree bark and leaves, with which we make things such as laundry baskets, breadboxes (which we sell in restaurants), mats and other types of baskets. Financing will allow us to buy a large quantity of raw materials and to train young girls in the village in the art of basket making. This will help discourage young people from fleeing to the city. It will also allow us to make brooms, which we sell in big cities in Senegal. This will be our group’s second loan, but this time it will be for a limited amount so that we will be able to create a sustainable business.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
