A loan of $625 helped to purchase a hot dog cart.

Brigitte's story

Brigitte L. is a young woman who is 19 years of age and lives in Villas de San Pablo, a self-sustaining housing project that was started by Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. It is in this setting that Brigitte organized a business called “Servicio de Comidas Rápidas Katleen” (Katleen’s Fast Food Service) in May 2010. She is taking advantage of the potential growth in this community and the absence of competition for this type of business. Brigitte sells hot dogs, sausages and fries, stuffed plantains, hamburgers, and other delicacies. She also adds sauces that please the palettes of customers who delight in her food every day. The strength behind Brigitte’s business is her knowledge of food preparation. She has a great opportunity due to the rapid population expansion that is taking place in this community.

This is her first loan with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. She will use the funds to buy a hot dog cart so that she can elegantly display and preserve her food in sanitary conditions. This will have an impact on her current market and help her gain potential customers. With a successful investment, Brigitte looks to increase her income.
