Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $475 helped to buy more supplies, such as straw, to make hats.

Cecilia Gregoria's story

Cecilia is 23 years old and single. She lives in her parents' home in a small, rural village in Monsefú district. This area is known for its tourist and religious festivities. Her home has access to electricity and well water. It is located twenty minutes from the city of Chiclayo.

Cecilia makes handicrafts, specifically hats. She has been in this business for six years. She sells her products in the local market. Cecilia would like to invest her loan in buying more supplies, such as straw, for making her products. For this reason, she has requested a loan for 1,300 Peruvian soles from Edpyme Alternativa. Cecilia will use the income from her sales to cover her personal expenses and to support her parents with their household expenses.
