A loan of $650 helped to buy construction materials (sand, stone, blocks, cement, iron, etc.).

Fernando Lourenco's story

Fernando Lorenço S. was born in Maputo City, Maputo Province in southern Mozambique. He is married and has three children who all go to school. Fernando finished ninth grade but did not continue because of financial problems. He lives in his own house with his family and supports his mother by sending her money.

He has never left his hometown. Fernando installs plumbing for running water and earns about 3,000 to 4,000 meticais per month. He uses the money for household expenses and saves some in his bank account.

He has never had loans from other banks, and he learned about Hluvuku through his brother-in-law, who is a customer of this institution. This is Fernando's first Hluvuku loan. He is asking for 20,000 meticais to buy construction materials (sand, stone, blocks, cement, iron and other items) to continue construction on his house.

He promises to make his payments on time so he can take out other loans in the future. He intends to ask for more loans to build a warehouse for selling construction materials.
