A loan of $650 helped to purchase construction materials (bricks, cement, iron, beams, and other items).

Delfina Manhica's story

Delfina Manhiça L. was born in Boane District, in Maputo Province, in the south of Mozambique. She is the mother of 8 children, and the two youngest are still attending school. She only completed 4th grade and didn't continue in school due to financial circumstances. She lives in her own home with her children, and doesn't support anyone besides her children.

She has never left her native region. She has land where she has been farming for over 20 years, planting crops for sales and for consumption. She has two employees who help her in preparing the land. She has monthly earnings of around 85,000 meticais and 3,200 meticais in earnings from rent. She uses these earnings for household expenses and manages to save a portion in her bank account.

She has taken loans from other banks in the past. She learned of Hluvuku through neighbors who are clients of this institution. This is her fifth loans with Hluvuku. The loan is for 20,000 meticais, and she plans to use it to purchase construction materials (bricks, cement, iron, beams, and other items) to continue the construction of her home.

She is committed to repaying on schedule to be able to access other loans in the future. She plans to request new loans for cattle raising.
