Diana Maritza's story

Diana G. is a member of El Aguacate community bank. She lives in the community of El Aguacate, in the city of Cuenca. This city is also known as Santa Ana de los Cuatro Ríos (Saint Anne of the Four Rivers). It was named a World Heritage Site in 1999 because of its colonial beauty. Its people are very warm and kind. Diana is 24 years old, married, and has one 7 year-old son who attends a local elementary school. Her husband works in a brick factory / wood warehouse. They don't own their own home but live in a borrowed house. Diana does her housework and also sells clothes. She sells to her neighbors and acquaintances. This is the third loan that Diana has accessed through her community bank. She will invest it in buying merchandise such as children's clothes, pants, t-shirts, blouses, etc. to stock her business. Diana's goal is to get her son ahead in life so that he can enjoy a better future.
