Haydee's story

Haydee is a member of the “Espíritu Santo” (Holy Ghost) community bank which is located in the city of Talcahuano. Her business is general dressmaking. Her sewing workshop is located in her home and her customers are schools, companies and private customers. She makes uniforms and clothes in general. In her workshop, Haydee has three sewing machines: one straight line machine, one embroidery machine and one basic overlock machine. She buys her materials in the city of Concepción and when she needs to she also travels to the city of Santiago to buy her materials there. Haydee's sister also helps her with her purchases and sends her parcels to the city of Talcahuano.

Haydee will use her loan to buy an industrial overlock sewing machine. She will also buy materials for her sewing work, specifically fabrics. Her goals are to expand her business and to hire someone to help her in her workshop since the demand for her services is high throughout the year. Only during the months of May, June and July do her sales tend to drop. However, throughout the year she receives private customers in her home.

Haydee lives together with her husband, her 24 year-old daughter and her 4 year-old grandson. Her daughter is studying civil construction. Haydee's dream on a personal level is to be able to better provide for her family's well-being.

Haydee is very grateful for the loan she has been offered by Fondo Esperanza since it will enable her to invest in her business and make more profit. She finds the meetings to be very pleasant and she shares a lot with the other members of her community bank. The training sessions have enabled her to incorporate different accounting techniques into her business, above all as regards the recording of incomings and outgoings in her business.
