A loan of $800 helped to purchase stock-in-trade (vaccines) for her vet pharmacy.

Nona's story

Nona B. lives in the village of Tokhliauri, Kakheti Region. Nona is 44 years old. She lives with her husband, two adult sons, her parents-in-law and daughter-in-law.

Nona is a veterinarian and owns a vet pharmacy. She offers medicines and vet service to a couple of nearby villages, including the treatment of domestic animals, vaccination of domestic animals and vet consultations. Villagers can purchase different types of vet medicines in her pharmacy.

Nona’s family also owns two milk cows. Nona’s husband, Levan, handles the agricultural activities of the family. He makes cheese from the milk and sells it locally.

With the requested loan, Nona plans to increase stock-in-trade in the pharmacy, as the season for vaccination starts in a month and demand on vaccines will increase in the villages. Nona plans to reinvest her profit in further expansion of the pharmacy and development of the dairy farm. In the long term, this reinvestment will positively impact the living conditions of the family.
