Vilma's story

Vilma is a member of the “MANOS JUNTAS RUMICHACA - ALTA” community bank which is located in the village of Rumichaca, in Urubamba province, in Cusco department.

Vilma is 34 years old, married, and has four children aged 13, 11, 9 and 5. Vilma's main business activity is farming and she owns her own farmland. This area is known as sacred land because they grow the biggest and sweetest corn kernels. They produce the best corn in Peru for export. Vilma sows and harvests corn and sells jora corn which is used to make the famous Incan drink 'chicha de jora'.

Vilma is requesting this loan to invest in buying seeds for her new corn crop. She is very grateful for the loan and pledges to make her repayments in a disciplined manner.
