A loan of $1,175 helped to purchase inventory for her business and to buy materials for vehicle maintenance.

Luz's story

Luz is a member of the communal bank "Creciendo con Fe" which is located in the city of Viña del Mar. She has a vending post where she sells ice-cream, drinks, and sweets. It is a mobile kiosk that can be moved from place to place along with the merchandise. Luz has been in this line of work for ten years.

Luz buys her inventories from pastry shops and distributor companies where she can purchase at lower prices. She will use the loan to buy the supplies for her business. Furthermore, she will use part of the loan to perform maintenance on her vehicle, especially the wheels and the tarp cover.

Luz's goal is to have her own established location where she could offer her products; she also wants to buy a pickup truck for transporting her merchandise. Luz would like to realize these projects this year. In terms of her personal dreams, Luz wants to bring a more comfortable life for her family; she lives together with her husband and her four children as well as her daughter-in-law.

Luz is very grateful and happy about the loan given by the Fondo Esperanza since it will allow her to invest in her business and improve her income. Also, Luz participates in the workshops on how to better administer your own business where she learned how to track her income and expenses and how to better distribute them. She feels happy about her group because she finds that its members have good communication and team spirit.

Viña del Mar is a city located in the central coastal area of Chile; it is known as the Garden City because of the gardens and courtyards that adjoin some of the older buildings in the city. It is also considered the tourist capital of Chile.
