A loan of $400 helped to buy corn for making tortillas and 'pupusas'.

Maria Ofelia's story

Maria resides in San Miguel, is 35 years old, and sells 'pupusas' (a popular Salvadoran snack) and tortillas. She lives with her husband and a son, aged 11. Her work is to make tortillas. She has a person who helps her to prepare them. Maria labors from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm making tortillas, then from 5:00 until 8:00 pm, she sells 'pupusas'.

At present, she needs to buy corn in an abundant quantity. Due to the current high market price, she wants to buy corn and store it in her home. Due to the current situation, Maria is requesting a loan to cover the cost of purchasing a good quantity of corn for storage.

Her ambition is to administer 2 businesses selling 'pupusas', providing work for 2 women, who like her, struggle every day to provide daily sustenance in their homes.
