A loan of $425 helped to purchase soil, compost, and pots for cultivating ornamental flowers.

Eusebia's story

Eusebia is 31 years old. She only completed the second graD. because she got run over after her mother took her took to school, so she became afraid and decided not to return. Doña Eusebia cultivates different types of flowers. She says that during the Christmas season she grows poinsettias. In other months she grows geraniums, fuchsia shrubs, poppies, baby’s breath, and other ornamental flowers.

Eusebia is requesting a loan to purchase soil, compost, and pots for selling flowers. She has been in business for approximately three years and says she started it because her brother and brother-in-law taught her how to cultivate flowers. Eusebia buys her pots and compost in the city of Morelia Michoacán and says that she sells the flowers from a cart situated across from the highway in her town as well as in the surrounding neighborhoods. She says, “I enjoy talking about flowers and how to take care of them. At a young age, my parents instilled in me a love of nature.”

Doña Eusebia is married to Sr. Crescencio, who is a day laborer. They have four children who are elementary school students. Her goal is to save a little bit of money so that she can have a larger nursery for cultivating more flowers.
