A loan of $500 helped to purchase construction materials (sand, stone, cement, etc.).

Tomas Paipe's story

Tomas Paipe S. was born in the city of Inhambane in the province of the same name in southern Mozambique. He is a widower and the father of three children, two of whom attend school. He attended school through the 6th grade, but had to leave school because his family no longer had the economic resources for him to continue. He lives in his own house with his family and isn't financially responsible for anyone else.
He left Inhambane for Boane in order to fulfill his compulsory military service, and later built his house there. He has retired from the military and receives a pension from the Ministry of the Defense in the amount of 4397 meticals, which he uses to cover household expenses. Occasionally he is able to save a little in his bank account.
He's never received loans from other banks. He learned about Hluvuku from friends who are also Hluvuku clients. This is his fourth loan, in the amount of 15,000 meticals, which he intends to use to purchase construction materials (sand, stone, cement, etc.) to continue improving his house. His previous loans were for 2500, 5000, and 15,000 meticals, which he also used on his dwelling.
He's committed to paying this loan off on time so that he'll be eligible for others in the future. He intends to request additional loans to finish his house.
