A loan of $675 helped to buy sandals, perfume, costume jewelry, cosmetics, and creams.

Grey Del Rocío's story

The “Dulce Amistad” (Sweet Friendship) Communal Bank meets every two weeks in the Rocafuerte canton. This place is known for its delicious sweets that the villagers make, which are recognized throughout the entire country. The people there are very warm, kind, and hard-working.

This is the place where we meet Grey, age 39. She is married and has four children; ages 21, 18, 16, and 11. Two of them attend the university, one is in high school, and the other attends primary school. Her husband is a driver.

She is a housewife who sells sandals, toilet water, and Avon products (beauty products like cosmetics, perfume, and women’s accessories). She has a small place in her house where she sells all of her products. Sometimes she also leaves to make her deliveries. She works every day from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. She has been engaged in this business activity for six years.

This loan is to buy sandals, perfume, costume jewelry, cosmetics, and creams. She has been in the communal bank for four cycles. She likes it for the help she receives with the loans.

Her dream is to have a pharmacy.
