Marina's story

Marina C. B. is a member of the village bank, “San Martin De Zurite." This bank is located in the village of Zurite in the Anta province of the department of Cusco.

Marina is a 76-year-old widow. She has four children and nine grandchildren and she tells us that her children are already independent. Marina wants to keep participating in the village banking group because it keeps her busy and gives her the strength that she needs to keep working and living. She is a very happy woman and has a good sense of humor.

Marina mainly works as a farmer. Currently her children and grandchildren are actually working alongside her to plant and harvest the crops on her land. She also raises small animals such as pigs, guinea pigs and chickens. Marina has been in the village banking group since the beginning. Back when the group was formed, she would hold the meetings at her house and this is where they are still held today. Marina has been an active member of the group for 12 years now. She plans to use the loan to buy feed for her animals and to purchase more chickens and guinea pigs. She would like to purchase more small animals and animal feed.

Marina appreciates and is grateful for the loan that has been awarded. She promises to be very disciplined about making her payments on time.
