A loan of $3,975 helped a member to purchase alfalfa seed.

Llamocctachi Group's story

The rural communal bank, Llamocctachi, is currently starting its 25th loan cycle at FINCA Peru. The nineteen members of the bank all live in the rural area outsiD. of Ayacucho and are involved in agriculture and grocery-selling businesses. Antonia is the president of this communal bank and has an alfalfa-growing business. She has two children, aged 15 and 12, who are both studying. She will be using her loan of 1,000 PEN to purchase alfalfa seed, fix up her land (she says that the heavy rains during the rainy season have left it quite a mess) and plant the seeds. After four months, she will harvest the alfalfa and travel to the main market in Ayacucho to sell it. Antonia has been a member of FINCA Peru for eight years now.
