Rosita's story

Rosita C., from the village of Sinamar, is 54 years old, married, and has two adult-aged children. To make a living, Rosita has been planting and harvesting corn for sale for over 22 years, earning approximately 9000 PHP a month.

In 2008, Rosita joined ASKI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Having repaid a previous loan of 25,000 PHP from ASKI that was used to purchase additional seeds, seedlings and young crops to raise. she is now requesting a new loan of 30000 PHP to purchase fertilizers such as manure. This will be Rosita's eighth loan from ASKI, and she plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve/expand her enterprise.

ASKI is one of the most successful microfinance institutions in the Philippines. It has 38 branches covering the Central and Northeastern areas. Its clients are mostly farmers, fisherfolks and small entrepreneurs.
