A loan of $725 helped to buy compost and fertilizers.

Ylaria's story

Ylaria is 28 years old. She is a very cheerful and hard-working woman, who lives in her own house together with her husband Fernando, age 29, and their 2 beloved children, Gabriel, age 8, and Paúl, age 3, for whom she wants to provide a better quality of life. Ylaria has spent the greater part of her life in her beloved village of Santa Rosa. Since she was a very young girl, she has learned how to farm; today she works on her own fields at her husband's side, where together they grow cacao, coffee and coca leaves. This work has provided the income necessary to cover the needs of her children. She sells everything she harvests to the wholesale centers located in the city of San Francisco, where she receives better prices for each of her products. What she likes most about her work is planting her fields, and she does this with great care. She has done this work for 9 years, and she thinks the most difficult part is transporting her products, since cargo vehicles are very scarce in this part of the rainforest zone of the Apurimac river valley. With time, she would like to buy new lands, with the aim of increasing her production. This is her fifth loan with MFP; she has been very punctual with her previous loans and she plans to continue in the same way. In her communal bank, she is very active and very well-liked by the rest of the members. With the loan she is requesting, she will buy compost and fertilizers to improve her cacao and coffee production.
