A loan of $1,075 helped to buy lumber and other tools.

Julio Herasmo's story

Julio, 55, is married; his wife works as an independent field laborer. They have two children who are 22 and 15; both are still school age. He is a Master Builder. He started this occupation hand in hand with his father who taught him when he was still very young. Later he became independent and started doing his jobs by himself becoming well known in the area. He’s been working for over 20 years and he earns about 500 soles per week.

The challenges he faces are not having enough time to spend with his children, to care for and watch over them, and not being able to support their higher education. His dream for the future is to buy a pick-up truck to transport his work tools and save transportation costs. He will use the money to buy lumber he needs to improve the quality of his work and provide better customer service thus saving on rental costs of the wood. Part of the money will be used to do some home improvements.
