A loan of $2,200 helped a member to buy rice, noodles and sugar for her store.

Huaycheñas Group's story

The “HUAYCHEÑAS” communal association is starting its first loan cycle with Pro Mujer, as part of the Los Andes regional center. It is composed of eight members, and it is directed by a committee of officers, headed by Claudina. The businesses operated by the members of the communal association are varied; among them are sweater production, food sales, car repair and brake workshop, grocery store, food sales, and vegetable sales.

Claudina reports that this is the first time that she has joined a communal association in Pro Mujer, and she joined thanks to the encouragement of the advisor. Currently, she operates a store in the province that she started in keeping with an aspiration she has had since she was small.

The loan that she will be receiving now is to buy rice, sugar, noodles, etc., which will be used to stock her store. This form of work allows her to generate resources to help support her family, since she is married.

When she is asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she responds that she likes the system of savings.

In this group: Claudina, Lidia, Virginia, Hilaria, Olga, Angelica, Teodora, Tereza
