A loan of $575 helped to purchase materials and supplies in bulk as well as pay for machine repairs.

Fernando's story

Fernando D. F. lives in the neighborhood of Los Pinos where he has a business called “Confecciones Difelipo”. There he produces all styles of clothing based on the season, as well as the tastes and preferences of his customers. During the first few months of the year he produces school uniforms, women’s clothing for Mother’s Day, children’s Halloween costumes, and other items. Fernando learned this trade since it is a family tradition. He perfected his skills by taking courses and workshops to update his knowledge and improve in the art of sewing. Fernando has a small workshop, but it is well-organized to make it look attractive to potential customers. His dream is to expand his workshop and create jobs in a strategic area that is separate from his personal space. For this reason, he works constantly and with great discipline so that he can accomplish this goal.

This Kiva loan is the first time Fernando has received financing from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. He will use the funds to buy materials and supplies, especially fabrics in bulk. In addition, some of the money will be invested in machine repairs. His main challenge has been securing operating capital so that he can meet the demands of his customers. Fernando now knows that he can move “Confecciones DiF.” forward since he has access to the loans from FMSD.
