A loan of $1,100 helped to purchase craft foam, paints, construction paper, adhesives, and other items.

Ayda Celeste's story

The Communal Bank “Camino al Progreso” (Road to Progress) meets every fifteen days in the canton of Montecristi. This place is known for its rich pre-colonial culture and its handicrafts that have been recognized on a national and international level. It is also where the famous Panama hats are made.

One can meet Sra. Ayda in this place. She is 54 years old, married, and has no children. Her husband is a taxi driver. Ayda has been with the Communal Bank almost since the beginning. She enjoys being a member because of the loans that have helped to finance her business.

In addition to taking care of her home and her husband, Ayda manufactures products and crafts made of foam. She says that she receives many orders for children’s parties. Ayda enjoys her job because many children have said how happy they are with her work. She works every day for several hours. When she has several orders, Ayda works for almost the entire day. She has been in this business for nine years and it has brought her many financial and spiritual benefits.

This loan will be used to buy materials for making crafts (party favors). She needs craft foam, paints, construction paper, adhesives, and other items. Her wish is that she and her husband have good health.
