Rice is an essential product vital to Cambodian people, and cultivating rice is part of 29-year-old Sot S.’s daily routine. She learned to do this from her grandmother, and she has been very widely known in this sector since before she was married. Her husband, Kong Brouspao, assists her with the farm work. They are blessed with two children who are still young. Sot S. will be using her loan to buy two cows for supporting her in the farm field. She appears with her husband in the photograph.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
