A loan of $550 helped to buy fabric and threads, and to fix a sewing machine.

Rosa Beatriz's story

Rosa C. is a member of the San Vicente community bank. She lives in San Vicente community which is located in La Victoria del Portete parish. This area has a cold climate and its people raise livestock and farm. Many leave the community daily to travel to the city of Cuenca to work in different jobs.

Rosa is 50 years old, married, and has four children aged 28, 25, 22 and 11. Her two eldest children have migrated in search of a better future. Her third child is studying at university and her youngest is in school. Her husband is abroad. Through their joint sacrifice and work, they have managed to build their own home.

Rosa's business is embroidering. She has been doing this work for 28 years. She works from home, from Monday to Saturday but doesn't working fixed hours. She also raises cows, lambs and guinea pigs which are for her own consumption and also to sell.

Rosa has been a member of her community bank for five years and she will invest her new loan in buying fabric and threads. She will also get her sewing machine fixed.

Rosa's goal is to build a new house for her children.
