A loan of $450 helped to buy animals and feed.

Maria Carmela's story

María lives in the Yonan district, located within the Contumaza province in northern Peru. She is 35 years old, single, and has two children, ages 13 and 14. She lives with her family in the rural part of the district. María earns her living selling hogs and corral birds, like turkeys, ducks, and chickens, which she raises on a small plot of land near her home. When they have reached a good size and weight, she sells them at the local market. She also earns additional income working on other farms in her zone.

She would like to expand her business by buying balanced feed and more animals to fatten up, so she has seen fit to request a 1,200 PEN loan. This investment will help increase her income. She is very responsible and hard working. She has had a previous loan through Edpyme Alternativa and repaid it on schedule. Her greatest desire is to continue growing her business to be able to improve her home and offer a better quality of life for her children.
