Charles is a 46-year-old married man with five children. He lives with his family in his own house in Fort Portal, Uganda. His wife is a farmer. For the past 25 years, Charles has operated a butcher shop and with the income he has generated has been able to pay the school fees for two of his children who are at the university. Charles faces the challenge of high taxes and is requesting a loan to buy cows for slaughter.
