A loan of $900 helped to buy fabric and fasteners wholesale.

Genoveva's story

Genoveva is a member of the "Nuevas Amigas" community bank which is located in Calleria district, in Ucayali department. She is 57 years old, married, and has 6 grown-up children. Genoveva has been working with the Manuela Ramos family for 10 years. Her business is sewing and she has most orders during the school season. She will use her new loan for 2,500 Peruvian soles to buy 6 meters of fabric, 2 kilos of remnants, one dozen sets of fasteners, half a dozen sets of buttons and one lot of satin ribbon. Genoveva's husband is a public employee and they always have to balance their household expenses carefully in order to make the money stretch. Thanks to her business, Genoveva is able to cover some household expenses. She is grateful to Manuela Ramos for her loans and, above all, for the educational talks that they give to their members.
