Musu's Group's story

Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT), a Kiva partner in Makeni, northern Sierra Leone, is very pleased to present to you the teachers of the MCA Primary School in Portee, Freetown. This group of teachers has come to SMT/Kiva lenders for a loan of 5,000,000 SLL to solve their financial problems or invest in a business. At the end of each month, the school’s bursar is directly responsible for deducting member repayments and paying SMT/Kiva lenders on their behalf.

Musu J. is the leader of this teacher’s group. She is 36 years old and married with three children. Musu was born in northern Sierra Leone and has been a teacher for more than five years. To supplement her meager monthly salary, Musu is runs a small business. She has applied for this loan to buy wholesale gara lappers (locally dyed cloths) to resell.
