A loan of $550 helped to buy more merchandise for her store.

Maruja's story

Maruja, 38, is married and has two minor children. She lives in her own house located in Laguna Larga, Olmos District, an agricultural zone with quite a bit of commercial activity located in Lambayeque Province over an hour and a half from the city of Chiclayo. She lives in the rural part of the district and does not have running water or electricity.

Maruja has had a small, home-based grocery store for three years. She sells basic need items of daily use and groceries to her neighbors and customers. She sells both for cash and on credit. She buys her merchandise in the city of Olmos and takes it to her hamlet.

She wants to expand her business buying more merchandise. To do so, she’s thought it advisable to request a 1500 new sol loan from Edpyme Alternativa. With income from her store, Maruja is able to help her husband, who raises small farm animals, to support the family.
