A loan of $1,625 helped a member to purchase condiments.

Djiguitougou (Espoir) Group's story

Djiguitougou is a group of women from the Hamdallaye district of the town of Koutiala. They know each other well and live together in the same neighborhood in large traditional families with their husbands, children and co-wives. They average 36 years of age, are married and mother to at least five children each.

The members of the Djiguitougou group buy and sell various food products as well as condiments. In order to expand their businesses, they decided to join Soro Yiriwaso's loan program two years ago.

Nana C. is one of the group members who buys and sells all types of condiments (oil, onions, sounbala, tomatoes, Maggie stock cubes, garlic and spices etc.). She is in great demand because she has a good position under a hangar right in the heart of the market in Hamdallaye. She is planning to use her loan to buy a significant quantity of condiments at the large market in Koutiala on a wholesale basis, and then sell them on a retail basis for cash to a customer base made up mainly of women.

While the other members of the Djiguitougou group are expecting to make an average profit of 135,000FCFA each during the course of this cycle, Nana C. is expecting to make 140,000FCFA.

As well as paying back their loans, they are going to use part of the income to cover their families' running costs. They would like to strengthen this partnership with Soro Yiriwaso in order to diversify their activities.

In this group: Fanta, Safiatou, Mamou, Adiaratou, Kadia, Nana
