Letis Erely's story

Letis, 37, lives in Guatajiagua, Morazán Department with her husband, Pedro, and three children: Jairo, 18, Neris, 16 and Elvia, 13, all of whom are in school and dependent on their parents economically.

Letis makes earthenware and Pedro sells the items his wife makes. The business basically consists in making clay pots and griddles. She works during the morning and from 2pm on. The advantage is that she gets orders and this means she works sure of making sales.

She needs a loan to buy clay, firewood and nacazcol (seeds that produce a black dye). This loan will help her acquire all the necessary supplies to do the jobs her customers require. Her risks arise in winter because production declines due to the humidity caused by the rain.

Her main dream is that her children study so that they can better themselves as professionals in addition to surviving in business to keep her home and bring make her dream a reality.
