A loan of $375 helped to buy calves to raise and sell.

Maria Elizabeth's story

María is 30 years old and single. She lives in her parents' home with her sister and a cousin in a rural area of Reque district which is located twenty minutes from the city of Chiclayo, in the north of Peru. Her community doesn't have access to drinking water or electricty.

María's business is raising livestock such as ducks, chickens and turkeys. She raises these animals on a plot of land belonging to her father which is located near her home. She feeds them natural fodder. When her animals have reached a good level of development, she offers them for sale to the traders who visit her area. She also sells to her neighbors.

María has more than 15 years experience in this line of work. She would like to invest her loan in buying young calves to fatten and sell. For this reason, she has requested a loan for 1,000 Peruvian soles from Edpyme Alternativa. María will use her income to continue supporting her parents with their family expenses.
